Mario Solinas
The International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition for which the Quality Award of the International Olive Council “Mario Solinas” is awarded is based on Decision No. DEC-1/82-IV/00 adopted by the International Olive Council on 8 June 2000, by virtue of which said Award, established by the International Olive Oil Council in 1993, in memory and honor of the Italian professor Mario Solinas, one of the most important promoters of the sensory analysis of virgin olive oil, is convened to starting from the 2000-2001 campaign.
Its main objective is to select among the participating extra virgin olive oils from the two hemispheres, those that present the maximum organoleptic characteristics in each of the categories:
Deep green, medium green, light green, mature and southern hemisphere.
